For this reason, the GTN 6XX unit requires no special operationsfrom the pilot — other than flying the procedure turn itself — beyond what isrequired for any other type of approach. Roll steering is provided to aircraft withcompatible autopilots.6.6 Flying the Missed ApproachUpon reaching the Missed Approach Point, the GTN 6XX unit continues togive guidance along an extension of the final course segment (FAF to MAP) untilyou manually initiate the missed approach procedure (as mentioned in referenceto the “SUSP” advisory).NOTE: If the unit is not configured for a CDI key, then the “activate GPS missedapproach” will only resume automatic waypoint sequencing. The user mustswitch to GPS navigation, if desired, by using their external source selectionmethod (this is typical an EFIS system).1. When the MAP is reached, a pop-up will appear.Figure 6-21 Pop-Up Upon Reaching the MAP2. Touch the Remain Suspended key to continue withsequencing suspended or touch Activate GPS MissedApproach for guidance to the Missed Approach Hold Point. The Activate GPS Missed Approach function is the same for the onscreencontrols or a remote switch. This function can be selected using the MENUbutton on the flight plan page when the aircraft is between the FAF and theMAP. Once selected, the GTN will continue to provide guidance along the finalapproach course. Upon reaching the MAP, the unit will automatically sequenceto the first leg of the missed approach. This is used when a pilot needs to executethe missed approach prior to reaching the MAP.
