The bearing pointeralways points directly to the destination, no matterwhat your current location might be. The compass ringindicates your heading. While you are navigating a route,the bearing pointer indicates the direction (a bent arrow)of the turn to the next point in the route as well as thedirection to the current point.For example, if the arrow is pointing straight up, youare going directly to your destination. If it points anydirection other than up, turn and move towards thedirection the arrow is pointing until it points up, andthen continue in that direction. If you are using thecourse pointer option instead and you drift away fromthe original line of travel to your destination, the coursedeviation indicator (CDI) provides graphic indication ofdrift (right or left) and shows the distance off course.
