Service Manual March 2016Diagnostic Display114 GTH-1048 • GTH-1056 Part No. 123701Diagno stic DisplayWhen the engine Electronic Control Module (ECM)detects an abnormal operating condition, a faultcode is immediately stored in the ECM memory.Models to Serial Number GTH1012-16291The fault code is displayed on the enginediagnostic display which is located on thedashboard in the operator's compartment. Thisbacklit LCD display allows the operator to viewthese fault codes, a description of the code andcorrective action needed. When not being used todisplay fault codes, the display shows the manyreadouts of engine functions in both English andmetric units.Located at the upper corners of the diagnosticdisplay are amber and red indicator lights.Depending on the severity of a detected enginefault, one of these lights will illuminate indicating anactive engine fault:Amber - WARNINGAn amber colored light signals an abnormal enginecondition which should be corrected as soon aspossible.Red - STOP ENGINEA red colored light indicates an engine conditionexists which requires the operator to shut down theengine as soon as possible. The ECM will, in somecases, automatically shut down the engine whenthe red light is displayed.Access the Active Fault Codes:Component damage hazard.Ignoring active fault codes mayresult in engine damage.1 During normal operation, engine parametersare visible in the diagnostic display. When anengine fault is detected, the engineparameters on display are immediatelyreplaced with a WARNING message. Also ondisplay are the SPN and FMI codes which arecombined to show an engine fault code.2 If the word "Next" appears at the bottom of thedisplay, this indicates that additional activefault codes exist. Use the arrow keys to scrollto the next code.3 Press the "Enter" key to acknowledge theactive code and return to the engineparameter display.Access the Stored Fault Codes:1 Turn the key switch to the on position. Do notstart the engine.2 Press the "Menu" key. Use the "Arrow" keysto scroll to "Stored Codes."3 Press the "Enter" key to view the stored code.4 If the word "Next" appears at the bottom of thescreen, there are additional codes beingstored.
