2-14 Operating Your Tablet PCUsing the Hard Disk DriveYour computer comes with a hard disk drive as drive C.A hard disk drive is a storage device with non-removable, rotating,magnetic storage platters inside it. It is where your operating system andapplication software programs are stored.Your hard disk drive is a 2.5-inch IDE (Integrated Drive Electronics) harddisk drive. This type of drive embodies the latest in fast, reliable massstorage by integrating all the control circuitry necessary for operationdirectly onto the drive itself. This allows the drive manufacturer tocarefully optimize drive performance.The system comes with a built-in heater that can automatically turn on forlow temperature operation. You can set whether the built-in heater will beon/off during low temperature operation by turning on the computer andrunning the BIOS SCU program. Enable the HDD Heater item, then,save and exit the SCU program. (See “Advanced Menu” in chapter 5).CAUTION:z Make regular backups of your data files from your hard disk drive to floppy disks orother storage media.z Never try to remove or install the hard disk drive while the computer is powered on.Doing so can result in loss of data, and can damage the computer and the hard diskdrive’s sensitive circuitry.z Never turn off or reset the computer while the hard disk drive in-use indicator is on.
