7How to Assemble and UseIMPORTANT: Your blender jar andcutting blades are subject to wearduring normal use. Always inspect jarfor nicks, chips, or cracks. Alwaysinspect cutting blades for broken,cracked, or loose blades. If jar or cut-ting blades are damaged, do not use.Call our toll-free customer servicenumber to obtain replacement parts.1. Make sure blender is unplugged.Place blender base on clean, drysurface to keep foreign particlesfrom being pulled up into motorduring operation.2. Place blades in safety base. Fitgasket over blades. The gasketmust lie flat. Set jar on top of gas-ket and screw on safety base.3. Make sure the safety base is firmlyscrewed onto the jar. If not, it mayloosen later when motor is turned on.4. Set jar into place on blender base,making sure it is securely seated.5. Plug cord into outlet.6. Put ingredients in jar; place lidon jar. Place hand on lid whenblending thin liquids.7. Process food or beverages. Seethe “Blending Techniques” sectionfor speeds and processing tips.8. ALWAYS turn blender off and waituntil blades have stopped rotatingbefore removing jar.9. To remove jar after blending iscomplete, lift the jar straight up.10. NEVER replace jar onto unit whilemotor is running.Crushing IceFill blender jar half-full with cold water.Add about 2 cups (500 ml) of icecubes. Place lid on blender jar thenturn the rotary dial to the high speedsetting. Continue until ice is crushedto desired consistency. Pour contentsinto colander or sieve to drain offwater.DO NOT CRUSH ICE WITHOUTLIQUID. Failure to follow thesedirections can result in damage to theblades, jar, blender, and possibly resultin personal injury.Hints for Best Use• Processing hot foods or liquids inthe blender may cause hot liquid tospurt out when the lid is removed.Always remove the filler cap of thecover before blending hot foods orliquids. When blending hot liquids,remove center piece of two-piecelid. Do not fill blender jar beyond the3-cup (750 ml) level. Always beginprocessing at the lowest speed set-ting. Keep hands and other exposedskin away from the cover opening toreduce the risk of possible burns.• To add foods when blender isoperating, remove filler cap from lidand add ingredients through theopening.• If blending action stops duringblending or ingredients stick to sidesof the jar, turn blender Off / O.Remove lid and use a rubber spatu-la to push mixture toward blades.• Do not try to mash potatoes, mixstiff dough, whip egg whites, grindraw meat, or extract juices fromfruits and vegetables.
