This manual will provide youwith the necessary information for the correct use of the instrument. Pleaseread it carefully before using the meter.Functional descriptionLight High: There is too much light to performa measurement. Please check the preparation ofthe zero cuvette.Light Low: There is not enough light to performa measurement. Please check the preparation ofthe zero cuvette.No Light: The instrument cannot adjust thelight level. Please check that the sample doesnot contain any debris.Inverted cuvettes: The sample and the zerocuvette are inverted.Zero: A zero reading was not taken. Follow theinstructions of the measurement procedure forzeroing the meter.Under range: A blinking “0.000” indicatesthat the sample absorbs less light than the zeroreference. Check the procedure and make sureyou use the same cuvette for reference (zero)and measurement.Over Range: A flashing value of the maximumconcentration indicates an over range condition.The concentration of the sample is beyond theprogrammed range: dilute the sample and re-runthe test.Standard Low: The standard reading is lessthan expected.Standard High: The standard reading is higherthan expected.Errors and warningsMeasurement procedureMeasurementON ZERO READINGON SAMPLE READINGDURING CALIBRATION PROCEDUREOTHER ERRORS AND WARNINGSCooling lamp: The instrument waits for thelamp to cool down.Battery low: The battery must be replacedsoon.Dead battery: This indicates that the batteryis dead and must be replaced. Once thisindication is displayed, normal operation of theinstrument will be interrupted. Change thebattery and restart the meter.Cap error: Appears when external light entersin the analysis cell. Assure that the cuvette capis present.Please examine this product carefully. Make sure that the instrument isnot damaged. If any damage occured during shipment, please notifyyour Dealer.Each HI 96762 Ion Selective Meter is supplied complete with:• Two Sample Cuvettes and Caps• 9V Battery• Instruction ManualNote: Save all packing material until you are sure that the instrumentworks correctly. Any defective item must be returned in its originalpacking.For more details about spare parts and accessoriessee “Accessories”.1) GLP/ : press to enterGLP mode. Incalibration mode press to editthe date and time.2) CAL CHECK: press to perform the validation of the meter, or press andhold for three seconds to enter thecalibration mode.3) ZERO/CFM: to zero the meter prior to measurement, to confirm editedvalues or to confirm factory calibration restore.4) READ/ /TIMER: Inmeasurement mode, press to make a measurement,or press and hold for three seconds to start a pre-programmedcountdown prior to measurement. InGLP mode press to view the nextscreen.5) ON/OFF: to turn the meter on and off.6) Liquid Crystal Display (LCD).7) Cuvette alignment indicator.8) Cuvette holder.1• Turn the meter on by pressing ON/OFF.2• When the beeper sounds briefly and the LCDdisplays dashes, the meter is ready. Theblinking “ZERO” indicates that theinstrument needs to be zeroed first.3• Fill the cuvette with 10 mL of unreactedsample, up to the mark, and replace thecap.4• Place the cuvette into the cuvette holderand ensure that the notch on the cap ispositioned securely into the groove.5• Press ZERO/CFM and the lamp, cuvetteand detector icons will appear on the display,depending on the measurement phase.6• After a few seconds, the display will show“-0.0-”. The meter is now zeroed and readyfor measurement.7• Remove the cuvette.8• Add the content of one packet of HI 95762-0Free Chlorine reagent. Replace the cap andshake gently for 20 seconds.9• Replace the cuvette into the cuvette holderand ensure that the notch on the cap ispositioned securely into the groove.10•Press and hold READ/ /TIMER for threeseconds. The display will show the countdownprior to measurement.
