20 SYSTEM SETUPSystem SetupPasswordThe DVD 5’s Password System is used to controlviewing of restricted programs and one’s capa-bility to change the password itself. The DVD 5 isshipped without a password and with the set-tings for the password system unlocked. The fol-lowing instructions will show how to add apassword and to lock the settings.Input PasswordFor disabling the playback of rated DVDs a pass-word, consisting of four digits, must be entered:1. Press ARROW (UP or DOWN) on the remoteto select Password on the SET UP MENU DIS-PLAY.2. Press ENTER or ARROW (right), PasswordMenu appears.3. Select Set Password, press ENTER, EnterPassword Display appears.4. Now enter a four digit password by pressingfour times on the NUMBER (0~9) buttons onthe remote, a black dot will appear each timea number was entered.5. When the OK icon is highlighted, press ENTERto finish password input, Confirm Passworddisplay appears below the Enter PasswordDisplay.6. Press the NUMBER (0~9) buttons on theremote to enter same password for con-firmation.7. When incorrect password is entered, newpassword menu appears and you can enterand confirm the password again. This time, ashelp the correct password is repeated in eachdigit of the upper ”Try Again” menu and theincorrect password in the lower ”ConfirmPassword” menu, appearing after the upper ispassed.8. After the correct password is entered in allmenus, press ENTER, the main passwordmenu will return and a red key symbolappears in the front display. To return to SetUp Menu press ARROW (left). The lock symbolin the Set Up Menu appears closed to showthat the rating is locked. After password is memorized, all passwordmenus are available only after correct pass-word is entered. If incorrect password isentered, new password menu appears wherethe correct password can be entered again. Note that the time delay before the passwordcan be re-entered will increase with eachattempt. This prevents attempts to find thecorrect password by trial and error. It’s most important that you note the pass-word in a safe place or remember it reliablyas access to rated discs or rating/passwordmenus or changing or clearing the password(see next pages) is not possible withoutentering the correct password.
