12 SETUP AND CONNECTIONSSetup and ConnectionsWhen DVD´s encoded in Dolby Digital or DTS areplayed, the Dolby Digital or DTS bitstream is out-put from the player’s OPTICAL or COAXIAL digi-tal audio output. When the player is connectedto a Dolby Digital or DTS decoder, you can enjoytheater-quality audio in your home. An opticaldigital audio cable or coaxial audio cable (bothoptional) is required for these connections, asshown below. Only one connection is needed,not both at the same time. Note: With multiple video sources, yourAudio/Video device can be used for selectingthe video signal and routing it to the TV.Connect the video or S-video output of theDVD player (whatever is provided with yourdevice) to the video or S-video input on yourdevice and the video/S-video output of thisdevice to your TV. For more details, see themanual of your Audio/Video amplifier/receiver. Note for Analog Audio: The connectionfrom Audio Out to the TV is optional only.Normally you´ll hear the sound from yourAV-system´s speakers, so the TV volumeshould be completely turned down.
