PROGRAMMING THE REMOTE 9PROGRAMMING THE REMOTEErasing Macro CommandsTo remove the commands that have been pro-grammed into one of the Macro buttons, followthese steps:1. Press the Mute Button and the MacroButton that contains the commands youwish to erase.2. The Program/SPL Indicator c will flashamber, and the LED under the AVR Selector fwill turn red.3. Within ten seconds, press the Surround ModeSelector/Channel Down Button k.4. The red LED under the AVR Selector f willgo out, and the Program/SPL Indicator cwill turn green and flash three times before itgoes out.5. When the Program/SPL Indicator c goesout, the Macro has been erased.Volume Punch-ThroughThe RCP 2 may be programmed to operate theVolume Control and Mute functions ofeither the TV or the AVR in conjunction with any of thedevices controlled by the remote. For example, sincethe AVR will likely be used as the sound system for TVviewing, you may wish to have the AVR’s volume acti-vated, although the remote is set to run the TV. Eitherthe AVR or TV volume control may be associated withany of the RCP 2’s devices. The factory default is tohave the AVR’s volume controls active for all devicesexcept CD and TAPE. To program the remote forVolume Punch-Through, follow these steps:1. Press the Input Selector e for the unit you wishto have associated with the volume control and theMute Button at the same time until the redlight appears under the Input Selector e; theProgram/SPL Indicator c will flash amber.2. Press the Volume Up Button ; the Program/SPL Indicator c will stop flashing and stay amber.3. Press either the AVR Selector f or the InputSelector e, depending on which system’svolume control you wish to have attached for thepunch-through mode. The Program/SPL Indicatorc will blink green three times and then go out toconfirm the data entry.Example: To have the AVR’s volume control acti-vated even though the RCP 2 is set to control theTV, first press the VID 3/TV Input Selector eand the Mute Button at the same time. Next,press the Volume Up Button , followed bythe AVR Selector f.NOTE: Should you wish to return the RCP 2 to theoriginal configuration after entering a Volume Punch-Through, you will need to repeat the steps shownabove. However, press the same Input Selector inSteps 1 and 3.Channel Control Punch-ThroughThe RCP 2 may be programmed to operate so that thechannel control function for either the TV, cable or satel-lite receiver used in your system may be used in con-junction with one of the other devices controlled by theremote. For example, while using and controlling theVCR, you may wish to change channels on a cable boxor satellite receiver without having to change the deviceselected by the AVR or the RCP 2. To program theremote for Channel Control Punch-Through, followthese steps:1. Press the Input Selector Button e for the deviceyou wish to have the channel control associated withand the Mute Button at the same time untilthe red light appears under the Input Selector eand the Program/SPL Indicator c flashesamber.2. Press the Volume Down Button . TheProgram/SPL Indicator c will stop flashingand stay amber.3. Press and release the Input Selector Button efor the device that will be used to change the chan-nels. The Program/SPL Indicator c will blinkgreen three times and then go out to confirm thedata entry.Example: To control the channels using your cablebox or satellite receiver while the RCP 2 is set tocontrol the VCR, first press the VID 1/VCR InputSelector Button e and the Mute Buttonat the same time. Next, release them and pressthe Volume Down Button , followed by theVID 3/TV Input Selector Button e.NOTE: To remove the Channel Control Punch-Throughand return the RCP 2 to its original configuration, repeatthe steps shown in the example above. However, pressthe VID 1/VCR Input Selector e in Steps 1 and 3.Transport Control Punch-ThroughThe RCP 2 may be programmed to operate so that theTransport Control Functions ` (Play, Stop, FastForward, Rewind, Pause and Record) for a VCR, DVDor CD will operate in conjunction with one of the otherdevices controlled by the RCP 2. For example, whileusing and controlling the TV, you may wish to start orstop your VCR or DVD without having to change thedevice selected by the AVR or the RCP 2. The factorydefault is to have the DVD’s transport controls active forall devices except CD and TAPE. To program the remotefor Transport Control Punch-Through, follow these steps:1. Press the Input Selector e for the device youwish to have the channel control associated with andthe Mute Button at the same time until thered light appears under the Input Selector e andthe Program/SPL Indicator c flashes amber.2. Press the Play Button `. The Program/SPLIndicator c will stop flashing and stay amber.3. Press and release the Input Selector Button efor the device that will be used to change the chan-nels. The Program/SPL Indicator c will blinkgreen three times and then go out to confirm thedata entry.Example: To control the transport of the DVD whilethe RCP 2 is set to control the TV, first press theVID 3/TV Input Selector Button e and theMute Button at the same time. Next, releasethem and press the Play Button `, followed bythe DVD Input Selector Button e.NOTES:• To remove the Channel Control Punch-Through andreturn the RCP 2 to its original configuration, repeatthe steps in the example above. However, press theVID 3/TV Input Selector e in Steps 1 and 3.• Before programming the RCP 2 for Volume, Channelor Transport Punch-Through, make certain that anyprogramming needed for the specific TV, CD, DVD,cable or satellite receivers has been completed.Reassigning Device Control SelectorsAlthough each Input Selector e is normallyassigned to the category of product shown on theRCP 2, it is possible to reassign one of these buttons tooperate a second device of another type. For example,if you have two VCRs but no satellite receiver, you mayprogram the “SAT” button to operate a second VCR.Before following the normal programming steps foreither Three-Digit entry or Auto Search code entry, youmust first reassign the button with the following steps:1. Press the Input Selector e you wish to reassignand the Mute Button at the same time untilthe red light appears under the Input Selector eand the Program/SPL Indicator c flashesamber.2. Press the Input Selector e for the device youwish to program into the reassigned button.3. Enter the three-digit code for the specific modelyou wish the reassigned button to operate.4. Press the same Input Selector e pressed inStep 1 once again to store the selection.
