Unpack the boiler, open the frontand side doors and inspect the boiler. Verify that the total numberof pieces shown on the packing slip agrees with those actuallyreceived.3.1.2 Storage Prior to InstallationIf the boiler is not installed immediately, it must be stored in alocation adequately protected from the weather, preferably indoors.If this is not possible, then it should remain in the shipping containerand be covered by a tarpaulin or other waterproof covering.3.2 Compliance with CodesThe boiler with standard components and with many optionscomplies with American National Standard/CSA Standard ANSIZ21.13/CSA 4.9, latest edition, Gas-Fired Low Pressure Steam andHot Water Boilers.The SC-2000 heat exchanger is constructed and stamped inaccordance with ASME Boiler and Pressure Vessel Code, SectionIV (160 psig maximum operating pressure).The SC-3000 and SC-4000 contain two separate heat exchangersconstructed and stamped in accordance with ASME Boiler andPressure Vessel Code, Section IV, and Section VIII – Division 1(160 psig maximum operation pressure).Installation of the boiler must conform to all the requirements of allnational, state and local codes established by the authorities havingjurisdiction or, in the absence of such requirements, to the NationalFuel Gas Code, ANSI Z223.1/NFPA 54 latest edition in the U.S. InCanada, the equipment shall be installed in accordance with thecurrent Installation Code for Gas Burning Appliances andEquipment, CAN/CSA-B.149, latest edition, and applicableProvincial Regulations for the class, which should be carefullyfollowed in all cases. Authorities having jurisdiction should beconsulted before making any installation.Where required by local codes, the installation must conform toAmerican Society of Mechanical Engineers Safety Code forControls and Safety Devices for Automatically Fired Boilers (ASMECSD-1).In the Commonwealth of Massachusetts (a) this unit must beinstalled by a licensed pipe fitter/plumber, (b) field installed gascocks must be “T” handle type, (c) piping of condensate shallconform to the State Plumbing Code, and (d) refer to theMassachusetts Supplement for further details.Installation and service must beperformed by a qualified installer,service agency, or gas supplier.Failure to install the equipment inaccordance with this manual couldresult in an unsafe operatingcondition.N OTICE !Controls and other equipment thatare damaged or fail due to weatherexposure are not covered bywarranty.The wheels provided with thisboiler are for positioning purposesonly. When positioning this boiler,maintain positive control of it at alltimes. Do not attempt to move theboiler on surfaces that are notlevel. Failure to heed this warningcould result in personal injury ordeath.N OTICE !The boiler may be installed on acombustible floor; however, theboiler must never be installed oncarpeting.Bumping hazard from overheadducts! Install all components withadequate vertical clearances.Insufficient clearance can restrictthe service access, increasing thepossibility of injury.
