INSTALLATION AND OPERATION INSTRUCTIONS1-14SL 20-115 MODULATING GAS bOILERCondensate reMoValIBC’s specified vent configuration promotes the safe drainage of moisture fromthe boiler and exhaust venting without flowing liquids back through the heatexchanger (as done by some other condensing boilers).reliable system operation requires (1) proper design and installation of exhaustventing to allow condensate to run back to the drain/trap; (2) acid neutralizationas appropriate. to achieve these:1. allow for a 1/4” per foot slope back to the vent connection, with appropriatehangers to maintain that gradient.2. Ensure the supplied trap is correctly installed and filled with water.3. When required, add (and maintain in good condition) a neutralization tank.1.5.1 Condensate Trapa condensate trap must be installed on the drain connection at the base of theboiler as shown in Figure 16.1.5.2 Condensate Trap Assembly - Installation1. undo drain spout Compression nut (e), remove drain Hose (g) from trapdrain outlet (F). Place Vacuum breaker cap (J) over the Vacuum breakeropening and push firmly home. Remove Upper Compression Nut andWasher (C) and slide over Boiler drain outlet (a). insert one trap Hook barbinto the back mounting hole.2. Fill Trap with water, and slidetrap Body (d) over Boiler drainoutlet (a). swing trap Hook (B)around the drain outlet (F) connection threads. insert remaining trap Hookbarb into the front hole. Pull the trap slightly downward to seat it against thehook and tighten upper Compression nut (C).3. attach drain Hose (g) and tighten drain spout Compression nut (e).1.5Figure 16: Condensate trapinstallationWARNINGThe Trap Hook must beinstalled as instructed and alltrap fittings must be tightenedas instructed to preventleakage of flue gasses.Failure to comply may resultin severe personal injury ordeath.WARNINGFill trap with water beforeboiler is first fired to preventexhaust fumes from enteringroom. Never operate theboiler unless the trap is filledwith water.Failure to comply will resultin severe personal injury ordeath.Condensate Trap as shippedCondensate Trap, disassembled
