Turn on the server.2. When the prompt Press F1 for Configuration/Setup appears, press F1. If youhave set both a power-on password and an administrator password, you musttype the administrator password to access the full Configuration/Setup Utilitymenu. If you do not type the administrator password, a limitedConfiguration/Setup Utility menu will appear.3. Select settings to view or change.Using the ServeRAID configuration programsUse the IBM ServeRAID Configuration Utility program and ServeRAID Manager toconfigure and manage redundant array of independent disks (RAID) arrays. Be sureto use these programs as described in this document.v Use the IBM ServeRAID Configuration Utility program to:– Perform a low-level format on a hard disk drive– View or change IDs for attached devices– Set protocol parameters on hard disk drivesv Use ServeRAID Manager to:– Configure arrays– View the RAID configuration and associated devices– Monitor operation of the RAID controllersConsider the following information when using the IBM ServeRAID ConfigurationUtility program and ServeRAID Manager to configure and manage arrays:v The ServeRAID-8k-l SAS controller that comes with the server supports onlyRAID level-0, level-1, and level-10. You can replace the controller with aServeRAID-8k SAS controller that supports additional RAID levels.v Hard disk drive capacities affect how you create arrays. The drives in an arraycan have different capacities, but the ServeRAID controller treats them as if theyall have the capacity of the smallest hard disk drive.v To help ensure signal quality, do not use drives with different speeds and datarates in the array.v To update the firmware and BIOS code for an optional ServeRAID SAScontroller, you must use the IBM ServeRAID CD that comes with the ServeRAIDoption.Using the IBM ServeRAID Configuration Utility programUse the IBM ServeRAID Configuration Utility Manager to perform the followingtasks:v Configure a redundant array of independent disks (RAID) arrayv View or change the RAID configuration and associated devices40 IBM System x3655 Type 7985: Installation Guide
