Defrosting of the refrigeratorFrost is automaticallyeliminated from theevaporator of the re-frigerator compart-ment every time themotor compressorstops, during normaluse. The defrost wa-ter drains outthrough a trough intoa special container at the back of the appli-ance, over the motor compressor, where itevaporates.It is important to periodically clean the de-frost water drain hole in the middle of therefrigerator compartment channel to pre-vent the water overflowing and drippingonto the food inside. Use the special clean-er provided, which you will find already in-serted into the drain hole.Defrosting the freezerA certain amount of frost will alwaysform on the freezer shelves andaround the top compartment.Important! Defrost the freezer when thefrost layer reaches a thickness of about 3-5mm.To remove the frost, do these steps:1. Switch off the appliance.2. Remove any stored food, wrap it in sev-eral layers of newspaper and put it in acool place.3. Leave the door open.4. When defrosting is completed, dry theinterior thoroughly and refit the plug.5. Switch on the appliance.6. Set the temperature regulator to obtainthe maximum coldness and run the ap-pliance for two or three hours using thissetting.7. Reload the previously removed food in-to the compartment.Warning! Never use sharp metal toolsto scrape off frost from the evaporatoras you could damage it. Do not use amechanical device or any artificial means tospeed up the thawing process other thanthose recommended by the manufacturer. Atemperature rise of the frozen food packs,during defrosting, may shorten their safestorage life.Periods of non-operationWhen the appliance is not in use for longperiods, take the following precautions:1. Disconnect the appliance from electrici-ty supply.2. Remove all food.3. Defrost, if foreseen4. Clean the appliance and all accesso-ries.5. Leave all doors open to prevent un-pleasant smells.If the cabinet will be kept on, ask somebodyto check it once in a while to prevent thefood inside from spoiling in case of a powerfailure.What to do if…Caution!
