NEVER hold the transceiver so that the antennais very close to, or touching exposed parts of the body, especiallythe face or eyes, while transmitting. The transceiver will performbest if the microphone is 5 to 10 cm (2 to 4 in.) away from the lipsand the transceiver is vertical.R WARNING! NEVER operate the transceiver with a headsetor other audio accessories at high volume levels.CAUTION: NEVER use non-Icom battery packs/chargers, to pre-vent the loss of the transceiver’s good performance and warranty.CAUTION: MAKE SURE the flexible antenna and battery packare securely attached to the transceiver, and that the antenna andbattery pack are dry before attachment. Exposing the inside of thetransceiver to water will result in serious damage to the transceiver.DO NOT push [PTT] when not actually intending to transmit.DO NOT use or place the transceiver in direct sunlight or in areaswith temperatures below –30°C (+22°F) or above +60°C (+140°F).DO NOT modify the transceiver. The transceiver warranty doesnot cover any problems caused by unauthorized modification.KEEP the transceiver away from heavy rain, and never immerseit in the water. The transceiver meets IP54* requirements for dust-protection and splash resistance. However, once the transceiverhas been dropped, dust-protection and splash resistance cannotbe guaranteed because of possible damage to the transceiver’scase or the waterproof seal.* Only when the battery pack and jack cover are attached.MAKE SURE to turn the transceiver power OFF before connect-ing the supplied/optional equipment.
