Safe driving requires your full attention—anything less may result in an accident.CAUTION: MAKE SURE the flexible antenna, bat-tery pack and jack cover are securely attached to the trans-ceiver, and that the antenna and battery pack are dry beforeattachment. Exposing the inside of the transceiver to dust orwater will result in serious damage to the transceiver.CAUTION: DO NOT use harsh solvents such as Ben-zine or alcohol when cleaning, as they will damage the trans-ceiver surfaces.DO NOT push [PTT] when not actually intending to transmit.DO NOT operate or place the transceiver in direct sunlightor in areas with temperatures below –25°C or above +55°C.DO NOT modify the transceiver. The specifications maychange and then not comply with the requirements of a corre-sponded regulation. The transceiver warranty does not coverany problems caused by unauthorized modification.BE CAREFUL! The transceiver will become hot whenoperating it continuously for long periods of time.PRECAUTIONS (Continued)BE CAREFUL! The transceiver meets IP67* require-ments for dust-tight and waterproof protection. However,once the transceiver has been dropped, dust-tight and water-proof protection cannot be guaranteed because of possibledamage to the transceiver’s case or the waterproof seal.* Only when the jack cover or the optional HM-168LWP isattached.Even when the transceiver power is OFF, a slight current stillflows in the circuits. Remove the battery pack or batteriesfrom the transceiver when not using it for a long time. Other-wise, the installed battery pack or batteries will become ex-hausted, and will need to be recharged or replaced.MAKE SURE to turn OFF the transceiver before connect-ing or disconnecting the supplied or optional accessory.Icom is not responsible for the destruction or damage tothe Icom transceiver, if the malfunction is because of:• Force majeure, including, but not limited to, fires, earth-quakes, storms, floods, lightning, other natural disasters,disturbances, riots, war, or radioactive contamination.• The use of Icom transceivers with any equipment that isnot manufactured or approved by Icom.
