If the con-nector becomes wet, be sure to dry it BEFORE con-necting it to the transceiver.NOTE: The microphone is located at the top of thespeaker microphone, as shown in the diagram above.To maximize the readability of your transmitted sig-nal (voice), hold the microphone approximately 5 to10 cm (2 to 4 inches) from your mouth, and speak ata normal voice level.SpeakerBelt clipMicrophonePTT SWITCHHold down totransmit, releaseto receive.Turn OFF the trans-ceiver power whenconnecting or dis-connecting the mi-crophone.To attachD BE SURE to turn OFF the power before attaching.Attach the connector of the speaker microphone into➥the multi connector on the transceiver, and tightenthe screw.IMPORTANT: KEEP the connector cover attachedto the transceiver when the speaker microphone isnot in use. (p. 1-4)Water will not get into the transceiver even if the cov-er is not attached, however, the terminals (pins) willbecome rusty, or the transceiver will function abnor-mally if the connector becomes wet.Turn OFF the powerCAUTION: Attach themulti connector snugly,but do not overtighten.A loose connection willallow water intrusion intothe connector. A over-tightened connector willdamage the connectorpins in the transceiver.
