132BASIC OPERATION2■ Emergency transmissionWhen [Emergency] is held down for the specified time pe-riod*, the emergency signal is transmitted on the specifiedemergency channel once or repeatedly.When no emergency channel is specified, the call is transmit-ted on the operating channel.The repeat emergency signal is automatically transmitteduntil you turn OFF the power.Depending on the preprogramming, receiving a matching5-tone code cancels the transmission.If you want to cancel the Emergency function, hold down[Emergency] for the pre-programmed time period again be-fore transmitting the call.If your transceiver is programmed for Silent operation, youcan transmit emergency calls without the beep sounding andthe LCD indication change.IMPORTANT: It is recommended to set an emergencychannel individually to provide the certain emergency calloperation.D NOTESDepending on the preprogramming, the following functionsare automatically activated.
