iiCAUTION: MAKE SURE the flexible antenna, bat-tery pack and jack cover are securely attached to the trans-ceiver, and that the antenna and battery pack are dry beforeattachment. Exposing the inside of the transceiver to dust orwater will result in serious damage to the transceiver.DO NOT operate the transceiver near unshielded electri-cal blasting caps or in an explosive atmosphere.DO NOT push [PTT] when not actually intending to transmit.DO NOT use or place the transceiver in direct sunlight orin areas with temperatures below –25°C or above +55°C.The basic operations, transmission and reception of thetransceiver are guaranteed within the specified operatingtemperature range. However, the LCD display may not beoperate correctly, or show an indication in the case of longhours of operation, or after being placed in extremely coldareas.DO NOT modify the transceiver. The transceiver warranty doesnot cover any problems caused by unauthorized modification.DO NOT use harsh solvents such as benzine or alcoholwhen cleaning, as they will damage the transceiver surfaces.BE CAREFUL! The transceiver will become hot whenoperating it continuously for long periods of time.PRECAUTIONSR DANGER! NEVER short the terminals of the batterypack.R DANGER! Use and charge only specified Icom bat-tery packs with Icom radios or Icom chargers. Only Icom bat-tery packs are tested and approved for use with Icom radiosor charged with Icom chargers. Using third-party or coun-terfeit battery packs or chargers may cause smoke, fire, orcause the battery to burst.R WARNING! NEVER hold the transceiver so thatthe antenna is very close to, or touching exposed parts ofthe body, especially the face or eyes, while transmitting. Thetransceiver will perform best if the microphone is 5 to 10 cmaway from the lips and the transceiver is vertical.R WARNING! NEVER operate the transceiver witha headset or other audio accessories at high volume levels.Hearing experts advise against continuous high volume op-eration. If you experience a ringing in your ears, reduce thevolume level or discontinue use.R WARNING! NEVER operate the transceiver whiledriving a vehicle. Safe driving requires your full attention—anything less may result in an accident.
