43Installation and ServicingSECTION 3 - SERVICING3.8 REPLACEMENT OF COMPONENTSGENERALWhen replacing ANY component1. Isolate the electricity supply.2. Turn off the gas supply.3. Remove the boiler front panel. Refer to Section 3.2.4. Swing the control box down into its servicing position.After replacing ANY component check operation of the boiler,including gas soundness, gas rate and combustion test.IMPORTANT.Ensure all gas valve connections are gas tight with a gassoundness check up to the gas control valve.When work is complete, the front panel must be correctlyrefitted - ensuring that a good seal is made.Notes.1. In order to assist fault finding, the control panel hasan LCD diagnostic display. The key to boiler faultconditions is shown in Section 4.2. In order to replace components in Sections 3.22-3.30 itis necessary to drain the boiler. Refer to Section 3.21.THE BOILER MUST NOT BE OPERATED WITHOUT THE FRONT PANEL FITTED3.9 FAN REPLACEMENT1. Refer to Section 3.8.2. Disconnect the electrical leads fromthe fan.3. Remove the clip from the gas controlvalve outlet.4. Remove the extended nut retainingthe fan mounting bracket.5. Lift and remove the fan and venturiassembly.6. Remove the screw and twist venturianti-clockwise to remove venturiassembly, noting the orientation ofthe venturi in relation to the fan body.7. Transfer the venturi assembly tothe new fan, replacing the ‘o’ ring ifevidence of damage or deteriorationis visible.8. Fit the new fan / venturi assemblyensuring the retaining tabs arecorrectly positioned and the fanoutlet sealing gasket is correctlypositioned and free from damage.Refit the extended nut.9. Reassemble the boiler in reverseorder, taking care not to overtightenthe screw on the fan mountingbracket and ensure all gas ‘o’ ringsare in place10.
