5G SERIES LOUDSPEAKERSbe sent to your main speakers orsatellites. Your G Sub10 subwoofercan use the signal from yourreceiver/TV/source amplifier toproduce the low bass while passingthe unaltered signal source to theexternal speakers.Speaker Level Output (to externalspeakers) – Hook up the externalspeakers using two-conductorinsulated wire using the sameprocedure as described in “SpeakerLevel Input” section. The red (+)terminal of the subwoofer should beconnected to the red (+) terminal ofthe external speaker, and the black(–) to black. Connecting the externalspeakers in this manner ensures thatthey will be in phase; that is, worktogether rather than in opposition.Connecting the speakers out of phasewill not damage them, but will resultin less bass and poor imaging(see Figure. 3).NOTE: There is no significant changein impedance loading to yourreceiver/TV/source amplifierwhen hooking up through theG Sub10 subwoofer.LEVELNOTE: When first setting up yoursubwoofer, set the Level controlcounterclockwise to "Min" (minimum)before turning power switch ON.Turn power switch to “On,” and usethe "Level" knob to add theappropriate amount of bass to yourmain speaker output. Increase thesubwoofer level by turning the levelknob clockwise until you find a settingthat is pleasing to you.CROSSOVERFREQUENCYUse the "Crossover Freq" knobto adjust the upper end of the sub-woofer's frequency response. Thecrossover control determines thehighest frequency your subwoofer willreproduce. It allows a seamlesstransition from subwoofer to satellitespeakers. When using small satellitespeakers (without much bass), youwould want the crossover frequencymore toward the upper end (200 Hz)to fill in the sound your satellites can'treproduce. When using larger mainspeakers, a setting more toward thelow (50 Hz) end gives a smoothertransition from your subwoofer to yourmain speakers. Experiment until youfind a setting that meets yoursatisfaction.MULTICOLOR LEDINDICATOR OPERATIONThe LED on the rear amp platesignifies the following operation statesof the G Sub10 subwoofer:RED – When your subwoofer isn'treceiving a music or source signaland the power switch is turned on, theLED indicator turns RED telling youthat the unit is plugged in and readyfor operation. At this time, theamplifier is in a "Standby" mode, effectively turned off and waiting for asignal from the source amplifier.GREEN – When your subwoofer, picks up a source signal, it turns oninstantly and begins to play. The LEDturns GREEN. After about 6 to 8minutes of non-use (no signal beingreceived), your subwoofer goes intothe auto shut-off mode. The LEDturns RED to signify this "Standby"condition.NOTE: When the amplifier is in the“Standby” mode it is effectively turnedoff. The Red LED tells you that thesubwoofer is plugged into the AC wallpower with its power switch turned on,but the amplifier circuitry is notengaged. You do not have to reach tothe back panel and turn the powerswitch off after every use. YourG Sub10 subwoofer turns itself offinternally. For extended periods ofnon-use (i.e., vacations, etc.), youmay wish to actually turn thesubwoofer off using the power switch.
