39Project everestconnections8 CAUTION: Turn off all amplifiers before connecting ordisconnecting Project Everest loudspeakers. Makingconnections while an amplifier is operating could seriouslydamage the loudspeaker system and void the warranty. All amplifiers must also be turned off before connecting ordisconnecting cables at the amplifier or preamplifier inputs. All connections between the amplifier(s) and the Project Everestloudspeaker system are made at the terminals located on therear of the enclosure. The left-hand terminals (black rings andblack logos on the terminal knobs) are negative, and the right-hand terminals (red rings and red logos on the terminal knobs)are positive. Twisted-pair shorting straps connect the netativeterminals together and the positive terminals together.Assign one of the two speaker wire conductors as the negativeconductor and the other as the positive conductor. These shouldcorrespond to the negative and positive speaker terminals onthe speaker and amplifier. Use these same designations for allsystem wiring. Always connect the conductors of the speaker wireappropriately to the corresponding negative and positive terminalson all system components: amplifier “+” to speaker “+”; amplifier“–” to speaker “–”. This will ensure that all components will worktogether in proper polarity (sometimes referred to as “in phase”).Refer to your receiver’s or amplifier’s instruction manual to confirmits connection procedures. Connecting the loudspeakers withimproper polarity (sometimes referred to as “out of phase”) will notdamage them but will result in reduced low-frequency output andimpaired stereo effect.
