15VM9411OPERATING INSTRUCTIONSPower On / OffPress the /MUTE button (1) to turn the unit on. The buttonson the front of the unit light up and “WELCOME” appearsbriefly in the LCD panel (17), followed by the current modestatus. If the TFT screen is open, only the current modestatus is displayed.Press and hold the /MUTE button (1) on the front panel orthe POWER button (4) on the remote to power off theunit.The monitor is drawn back into the main compartmentand the LCD screen displays “BYE-BYE”.Audible Beep ConfirmationAn audible beep tone confirms each function selection. Thebeep tone cannot be disabled.MutePress the /MUTE button (1) on the front panel or the MUTEbutton (3) on the remote to mute the volume from the unit.Press the MUTE button again to restore the volume. “MUTE”is displayed on the LCD monitor. Adjusting the volume orusing any of the audio set-up features cancels the mutefunction.Playing Source SelectionPress the SRC/P.MODE button (15) on the front panel or theSRC button (8) on the remote to change between availableplaying sources in the following order: Tuner, DVD/CD, XM,iPod, Aux In, Camera (rear view video camera) and TV. Theplaying mode is displayed on the TFT and LCD screens.AUX IN ModeAn external peripheral device can be connected to this unitvia standard RCA connectors for video and left/right audio.CAMERA Mode“CAMERA” mode is only available if the camera is connectedand during reverse driving. To install a rear view videocamera, connect the camera video output cable to thecamera video input cable on the head unit. Refer to the wiringdiagram for proper wiring connections.Volume AdjustmentTo increase or decrease the volume level, turn the ROTARYENCODER (6) on the front panel or press the VOL+/ VOL-buttons (15, 16) on remote control. When the volume levelreaches “0” or “40”, a beep sounds, indicating that theadjustment limit has been reached. The volume ranges from“0” to “40”. The LCD or TFT screen displays the volume levelfor 3 seconds.Programmable Turn-On VolumeThis feature allows the user to select a turn-on volume settingregardless of the volume setting prior to turning the unit off.To program a specific volume level, push and hold theAUDIO button (2) while the yellow volume bar is displayed onthe screen. The unit will beep two times to confirm your turn-on volume setting.Audio Control MenuThe Audio Control feature allows you to easily adjust youraudio system to meet the acoustical characteristics of yourvehicle, which vary depending on the type of vehicle and itsmeasurements. To get the best possible sound quality fromyour new system, be sure to adjust the settings for thespeakers as well. Proper setting of the Fader and Balanceboosts the effects of the cabin equalizer.Accessing the Audio Control MenuPress the VOL/LOC/DX knob (6) on the front panel once todisplay the “AUDIO” menu.Selecting an Audio Feature for AdjustmentContinuously press the VOL/LOC/DX knob (6) on the frontpanel, or press the (>>)/(<<) buttons (14, 22) on the remotecontrol or the (/\)/(V) buttons (18, 19) on the joystick to selectthe audio feature to be adjusted.Adjusting an Audio FeatureRotate the VOL/LOC/DX knob (6), press the (|<<)/(>>|)buttons (17, 19) on the remote control, or press the (<)/(>)buttons (16, 17) on the joystick to adjust the selected featureto the desired setting.NOTE: The Bass and Treble levels are only adjustablewhen EQ is set to “User” mode.Loudness• The Loudness level/function is dependent on the mainvolume setting. As the volume is increased, lessLoudness compensation is applied to the audio signal.This is referred to "Auto-Loudness".
