76.5 Turning with auto feedThe auto feeder (option) allowsturning with automatic feed (feed rate0,02mm/rev).The O-ring is driven by the mainspindle. The feed can be switchedON/OFF by pulling/pushing theknurled knob (Fig 8).Fig 8Attention:Always close the chuck guard andpulley cover before you start themachine.6.6 Drilling operationUse a drill chuck with M14x1 thread(option) to hold centring drills andtwisted drills in the tailstock (Fig 9).Fig 9For recommended speeds refer tosection 6.37. Setup and adjustmentsGeneral note:Setup and adjustment work mayonly be carried out after themachine is protected againstaccidental starting by pulling themains plug.7.1 Three jaw universal chuckWith this universal chuck, cylindrical,triangular and hexagonal stock maybe clampedTo hold big diameter stock the jawscan be reversed.The jaws always need to be insertedto the chuck in the correct order.Use Molykote Paste G (or adequategrease) to lubricate the jaws.7.2 Top slide (optional)By angling the top slide, tapers maybe turned.Loosen the mounting bolt (hex socketbolt) and rotate the top slide accordingto the graduated scale (Fig 10).Fig 107.3 Live centre (optional)The live centre (Fig 11) is mounted inball bearings.Its use is highly recommended forspeeds above 500 RPM.Fig 117.4 Steady rest (optional)The steady rest (Fig 12) serves as asupport for longer shafts and ensuresa safe and chatter free operation.The steady rest is mounted on the bedway with a locking plate.Fig 12Set the fingers snug but not overlytight. Lubricate the fingers to preventpremature wear.8. Maintenance and inspectionGeneral notes:Maintenance, cleaning and repairwork may only be carried out afterthe machine is protected againstaccidental starting by pulling themains plug.Clean the machine regularly.Defective safety devices must bereplaced immediately.Repair and maintenance work on theelectrical system may only be carriedout by a qualified electrician.Lubrication:Weekly apply oilDIN 51502 CG ISO VG 68(e.g. BPMaccurat 68, Castrol Magna BD68, Mobil Vectra 2)1…oil bed ways lightly2…oil tailstock quill and spindle3…oil lead screw on entire length4…oil lead screw bracket5…oil cross slide ways and spindleMotor brushes:The collector brushes are due to wearand may need replacement.- Disconnect the machine from thepower source, pull mains plug.-remove the brush covers.-Replace the collector brushes(Jet Article Number: BD3-058CB2 pieces needed).-reattach the brush covers.Cross slide adjustment:The cross slide way gib is adjustablewith grub screws (Fig 13).
