Adjusting the Head HeightTo facilitate shipping, the Drill Press is packed withthe head adjusted down on the column. The headassembly should be moved to the top of the columnbefore drilling operation starts., WARNINGThe head assembly is very heavyl Use cautionwhen adjusting the head and make sure it issupported by the table or locked in place.Failure to comply may cause damage to propertyand/or personal injuryl1. Unlock the table by loosening handle (A,Fig. 3).2. Lowerthe table untilthere is room to place ablock of wood between the table and the headassembly (Fig. 4).3. Loosen two nuts (A,Fig. 5) on the headassembly.4. Raise the head by raising the table. The headis at the correct height when the top of the headis just belowthe column cap (B, Fig. 5).5. Tighten the two nuts (A,Fig. 5) on the headassembly firmly.6. To lowerthe head, reverse the steps above. Donot loosen the head assembly bolts withoutsupporting the head. This may cause thehead to slip on the column and may causedamage to the machine or personal injury.Adjusting the Rack AssemblyAfter the table has been adjusted, the rack assemblywill need to be raised.CAUTIONThe table must be locked when raising the racklFailure to lock the table may cause the assemblyto drop on the column, causing damage to themachinel1. Make sure both head assembly nuts (A,Fig. 5)are tight.2. Loosen the hex socket cap screw (A,Fig. 6) onthe upper rack ring.3.
