121. Disconnect machine from power source.2. Open the switch box and connect the leadsaccording to the wiring diagram inside theswitch box. This diagram is also shown onpage 26 of this manual.3. The 115V attachment plug supplied with theband saw must be replaced with a UL listedplug suitable for 230 volt operation, similarto the one shown in Figure 8. Contact yourlocal authorized WMH Tool Group servicecenter or qualified electrician for properprocedures to install the plug. The band sawmust comply with all local and nationalcodes after the 230 volt plug is installed.4. Close the switch box5. The band saw with a 230 volt plug shouldonly be connected to an outlet having thesame configuration (Figure 8). No adapter isavailable or should be used with the 230 voltplug.Extension cordsIf an extension cord is necessary, make sure thecord rating is suitable for the amperage listed onthe machine’s motor plate. An undersize cordwill cause a drop in line voltage resulting in lossof power and overheating.Use the chart in Figure 9 as a general guide inchoosing the correct size cord. If in doubt, usethe next heavier gauge. The smaller the gaugenumber, the heavier the cord.AdjustmentsSquaring Vise to Blade (90° Stop)For accurate cutting, the vise jaws should besquare to the blade. Inspect as follows:1. Loosen the handle (A, Figure 10) and makesure the bow is swiveled enough that thestop screw (B, Figure 10) is contacting thefixed screw (C, Figure 10).2. Place a machinist’s square on the bedagainst the blade and the fixed jaw of thevise, as shown in Figure 10. The squareshould lie along the entire length of the jawand blade without a gap.3. If the vise and blade are not square, loosenthe hex nut on the stop screw (B, Figure 10)with a 10mm wrench and rotate the stopscrew as needed until the vise and bladeare square whenever the stop screw iscontacting the socket head cap screw (C,Figure 10).Figure 8Recommended Gauges (AWG) of Extension CordsExtension Cord Length *Amps 25feet50feet75feet100feet150feet200feet< 5 16 16 16 14 12 125 to 8 16 16 14 12 10 NR8 to 12 14 14 12 10 NR NR12 to 15 12 12 10 10 NR NR15 to 20 10 10 10 NR NR NR21 to 30 10 NR NR NR NR NR*based on limiting the line voltage drop to 5V at 150% of therated amperes.NR: Not RecommendedFigure 9Figure 10
