117.6 Coolant systemMake sure there is coolant inthe tank before operating, to prevent damage topump.Use of a water-soluble coolant will increase cuttingefficiency and prolong blade life. Do not use blackcutting oil as a substitute.1. Remove coolant return hose (A, Figure 10)from filter cup, and slide tank out of saw base.2. Fill tank to approximately 80% of capacity. Fullcapacity is 9 liters (2.25 gal).3. Place tank into base. Place coolant returnhose into the filter cup. Verify that oppositeend of coolant return hose is connected to thecoolant pan.4. The coolant supply hose (B, Figure 17) shouldconnect to the two valves on the blade guideassemblies.Figure 108.0 Electrical connectionsElectrical connections mustbe made by a qualified electrician incompliance with all relevant codes. Thismachine must be properly grounded to helpprevent electrical shock and possible fatalinjury. The HVBS-710S Band Saw is rated at 115/230Vpower, and pre-wired for 115 volt. The band sawcomes with a plug designed for use on a circuitwith a grounded outlet that looks like the onepictured in A, Figure 11.Before connecting to power source, be sure switchis in off position. It is recommended that the band saw, whenoperated at 115 volt, be connected to a dedicated20 amp circuit with a 20 amp circuit breaker ortime-delay fuse rated “D”. It is recommended thatthe band saw, when operated at 230 volt, beconnected to a dedicated 15 amp circuit with a 15amp circuit breaker or time-delay fuse rated “D”Local codes take precedence over recom-mendations.8.1 Grounding instructions1. All Grounded, Cord-connected Tools:In the event of a malfunction or breakdown, grounding provides a path of least resistance forelectric current to reduce the risk of electric shock. This tool is equipped with an electric cord havingan equipment-grounding conductor and agrounding plug. The plug must be plugged into amatching outlet that is properly installed andgrounded in accordance with all local codes andordinances.Do not modify the plug provided - if it will not fit theoutlet, have the proper outlet installed by aqualified electrician.Improper connection of the equipment-groundingconductor can result in a risk of electric shock. Theconductor with insulation having an outer surfacethat is green with or without yellow stripes is theequipment-grounding conductor. If repair orreplacement of the electric cord or plug isnecessary, do not connect the equipment-grounding conductor to a live terminal.Check with a qualifiedelectrician or service personnel if thegrounding instructions are not completelyunderstood, or if in doubt as to whether thetool is properly grounded. Failure to complymay cause serious or fatal injury.Use only 3-wire extension cords that have 3-pronggrounding plugs and 3-pole receptacles that acceptthe tool's plug.Repair or replace damaged or worn cordimmediately.2. Grounded, cord-connected tools intended foruse on a supply circuit having a nominal rating lessthan 150 volts:This tool is intended for use on a circuit that has anoutlet that looks like the one illustrated in A, Figure11. An adapter, shown in B and C, may be used toconnect this plug to a 2-pole receptacle as shownin B if a properly grounded outlet is not available. The temporary adapter should be used only until aproperly grounded outlet can be installed by aqualified electrician. This adapter is not permittedin Canada. The green-colored rigid ear, lug, and the like, extending from the adapter must be connected to apermanent ground such as a properly groundedoutlet box.3.
