11Setting the Work StopReferring to Figure 7:The work stop is an accessory that is includedwith the JET J-9180 Bandsaw. It is used to setup the saw for making multiple cuts of the samelength.Do not allow the blade to reston the workpiece when the saw is notcutting.Installation1. Screw the threaded end of the distance setrod (A) into the hole at the front of the base(B) as shown.2. Secure by tightening the lock nut (C) with a22mm hex wrench.Adjustment3. The distance set bracket (D) is moved alongthe distance set rod (A) by loosening thelock handle (H). The stop rod (F) can berepositioned (G) by loosening lock handle(E) – also by loosening the lock nut (C) androtating the set rod (A) to reposition theangle of the bracket (D).Quick Release Vise OperationReferring to Figure 8:The vise on the J-9180 bandsaw comesequipped with a quick-release handle thatpermits the workpiece to be rapidly repositionedor changed for a repeated cutting operationwhile requiring only one initial adjustment of thevise handwheel. This is done as follows:1. Place the quick-release handle (A) in the upposition as shown.2. Turn the handwheel (B) counterclockwiseuntil the workpiece can be placed inposition.3. Place the workpiece (C) in the vise (D) andagainst the work stop (E); turn the hand-wheel (B) until the vise begins to clamp ontothe workpiece. Then back the handwheel offjust enough to permit the workpiece to slidein and out of the vise.4. Place the quick-release handle (A) in thedown position. The workpiece is secure andready for cutting.The vise is now set up for a repeated cuttingoperation. Simply raise the quick-releasehandle, reposition or replace the workpiece andreset the handle down again.Figure 7Figure 8
