Follow the procedure below if,however, the belt should require replacement.1. Remove the feed-roller belt as described inFeed-roller Belt Replacement above.2. Remove the bottom portion of the cutterheaddrive belt (D) from pulley (E) while manuallyrotating pulley (F).Use extreme caution to avoidcontact with cutterhead knives whileperforming this step. Contact with cutterheadknives will cause serious injury.3. Remove top portion of belt (D) from pulley F,then work it under the chain and past pulley Bto remove completely.4. Install new belt by first feeding the lower loopdownward behind the gear (H) and pulley (C).This will properly position the lower loop of thebelt in close proximity to pulley (E).5. Slide the top loop of the belt around and pastpulley (B), sliding it underneath and past chain(G); then loop around pulley (F).6. Loop belt around pulley (E) while manuallyrotating pulley (F).Use extreme caution to avoidcontact with cutterhead knives whileperforming this step. Contact with cutterheadknives will cause serious injury.7. Manually rotate pulley (F) to verify that thegrooves in the belt are properly meshed withthe grooves on both pulleys.This completes the cutterhead drive beltinstallation.8. Replace the feed-roller belt (Feed-roller BeltReplacement section steps 3–5).12.0 Basic Operations12.1 Dust collectionBefore initial operation, the machine must beconnected to a dust collector.Important: If a dust collection system is not used,the quality of your cut will suffer severely.12.2 Initial startupAfter the assembly and adjustments are completethe planer is ready to be tested. Plug in and startthe machine. Keep your finger on the Stop buttonin case of a problem. The machine should runsmoothly with little or no vibration or rubbingnoises. Investigate and correct the source of anyproblems before further operation.DO NOT attempt to investigateor adjust the planer while it is running. Waituntil the machine is turned off, unplugged andall working parts have come to a completestandstill.Always wear ANSI-approvedsafety glasses or goggles when operatingequipment.12.3 Changing mode of operationWhen changing the operating mode (planer tojointer and back) the machine must be turned off,unplugged, and come to a complete stand-still.
