4 English Danger Never touch the mains plug and thesocket with wet hands. The appliance must not be used if thepower cable or important parts of the ap-pliance, e.g. safety devices, high-pres-sure hoses, spray guns, are damaged. The appliance may not be used in areaswhere a risk of explosion is present. If the appliance is used in hazardous ar-eas (e.g. filling stations) the corre-sponding safety provisions must beobserved. Check the power cord with mains plugfor damage before every use. If thepower cord is damaged, please arrangeimmediately for the exchange by an au-thorized customer service or a skilledelectrician. High-pressure jets can bedangerous if improperlyused. The jet must not bedirected at persons, ani-mals, live electrical equipment or at theappliance itself. The jet must not be directed at otherpersons or directed by the user at him/herself to clean clothing or footwear. Never use the appliance to clean ob-jects containing hazardous substances(e.g. asbestos). Vehicle tyres or tyre valves are suscep-tible to damage from the high-pressurejet and may burst. The first indication ofthis is a discolouration of the tyre. Dam-aged vehicle tyres/tyre valves are high-ly dangerous. Ensure that a distance ofat least 30 cm is observed when clean-ing with the jet! Never draw in fluids containing solventsor undiluted acids and solvents! This in-cludes petrol, paint thinner and heatingoil. The spray mist thus generated ishighly inflammable, explosive and poi-sonous. Do not use acetone, undilutedacids and solvents as they are aggres-sive towards the materials from whichthe appliance is made. Warning Check the high-pressure hose for dam-age before every use. Please arrangefor the immediate exchange of a dam-aged high-pressure hose. High-pressure hoses, fixtures and cou-plings are important for the safety of theappliance. Only use high-pressure hos-es, fixtures and couplings recommend-ed by the manufacturer. Do not use the appliance when thereare other persons around unless theyare also wearing safety gear. The maximum tolerable mains imped-ance at the electrical contact point (seeTechnical Data) must not be exceeded. Unsuitable extension cables can behazardous. Only use extension cablesoutdoors which have been approved forthis purpose and labelled with a suffi-cient cable cross section:1 -10 m: 1.5 mm2 ; 10 - 30 m: 2.5 mm2Note The appliance must not be operated bychildren or persons who have not beeninstructed accordingly. The operator must use the applianceproperly. When working with the appli-ance, he must consider the local condi-tions and pay due care and attention toother persons, in particular children,who are nearby. Observe a distance of at least 30 cmwhen using the jet to clean painted sur-faces to avoid damaging paintwork. Cleaning operations which produce oilywaste water, e.g. engine washes, un-derbody washes, may only be carriedout using washing stations equippedwith an oil separator.
