18 English RC 3000Function and Mode of OperationDear Customer,thank you very much for purchasing the Kär-cher cleaning robot RC 3000.The RC 3000 is an automatic cleaning robotfor the indoor area of private households. It canbe used on all common floor coverings for theautonomous, continuous routine cleaning. Theappliance consists of two components - a dok-king station and a mobile robot.The robot is operated with rechargeable bat-teries. It moves according to the random me-thod. If the robot bumps into an obstacle, itchanges its direction at a random angle. Then,it goes straight ahead until it bumps into thenext obstacle. The flat design of the robot al-lows it to also clean the floor underneath pie-ces of furniture, such as beds, sofas, cup-boards, and wardrobes. The robot is workingwith optical sensors that detect stairs and stepsand prevent the robot from falling down.The robot provides of four operating programsthat allow him to automatically adjust to thevarious degrees of dirt accumulation on thefloor. The control of the operating programs isperformed by means of sensors located in thedirt receptacle and depends on the detecteddegree of dirt accumulation.If the battery is charged completely, the robotcan clean up to 60 minutes. After 20 minutesat the earliest, the robot (IR receiver) begins tosearch its station (IR sender). If the robot hasnot found its station after 60 minutes, it turnsoff its cleaning aggregates and exclusively con-centrates on the search for its station foranother 60 minutes.The station serves to charge the batteries ofthe robot and to suck off the dirt from the dirtreceptacle. In the station, the dirt is collectedin a filter bag (2 l).
