22 23Sensitivity is the detector’s level ofresponse to its environment and totargets. Sensitivity can be only beadjusted in Smartfind and Digital Display. The Sensitivity bar is a visual indication ofthe Sensitivity setting.Sensitivity can be adjusted in both theSemi-automatic mode or Manual mode.In Semi-Automatic Sensitivity mode, the detector continuously monitors theenvironmental conditions and will adjustthe Sensitivity as close as possible to yourspecified level of Sensitivity. In Manual Sensitivity mode theadjustment allows you to control theSensitivity directly. This is recommendedfor high trash areas when best resultsare obtained by sweeping the coil veryslowly. Manual Sensitivity is suitablefor the beach and very quiet/stable(unmineralised) ground, where theground conditions do not change asoften.SensitivityModes: Semi-Automatic, ManualRange: 1 to 32Factory Preset: Semi-Automatic, 22The clear portion of the depth indicatorrepresents the approximate distance ofa target below the coil. The top of the indicator represents theposition of the coil and the bottomrepresents 300mm (12 inches) from thecoil. The bar will be clear if the targetis deeper than 12 inches or its depthcannot be accurately gauged.Try to think of the clear area of the depthindicator as the amount of soil you willyou have to dig to recover the target. The depth indicator is alsoupdated for rejected targets.DepthTo adjust Sensitivity:Press the top-left shift button to increaseSensitivity.Press the bottom-left shift button todecrease Sensitivity. To switch from Semi-Automatic toManual Sensitivity:Press the center-left shift button. A line willcycle around the number to indicate thatSemi-Automatic Sensitivity is activated. The detector with a high Sensitivity settingwill detect deep targets but may respondto unwanted noise and ground signals. Ahigh Sensitivity setting is recommendedfor stable conditions with low interference. The detector with a low Sensitivity settingwill ignore unwanted noise and groundsignals, but may miss deep targets. A lowerSensitivity setting is preferable for veryvariable, ‘noisy’ conditions or high trashareas.Try reducing interference beforereducing Sensitivity. Press the NOISECANCEL shortcut button, or manuallyselect the least noisy channel (pg. 56).Maximum setting (32)Current Sensitivity level (e.g. 22)Minimum setting (1).300mmeg. 120mm
