84CONNECTION/INSTALLATION❏ Connecting the GPS antennaConnect the GPS antenna (7) to the GPS terminal.• To install the GPS antenna, fix the metal plate(8) firmly on the dashboard, then place the GPSantenna (7) on the metal plate (8).– Clean the dashboard or other surfacebeforehand.– Install the GPS antenna (7) inside of the car, ashorizontally as possible to allow easy receptionof the GPS satellite signals.– You can bend the metal plate (8) to conform toa curved surface, if necessary.778• Depending on the type of car, reception of theGPS satellite signals might not be possible with aninternal installation.• Install this GPS antenna in an area away from anyantennas that are used with CB radios or satellitetelevisions.• The GPS antenna should be installed at a positionat least 30 cm (12 inches) from mobile phone orother transmitting antennas.• The above types of communication may interferewith signals from the GPS satellite.• Painting the GPS antenna with (metallic) paintmay cause reduced performance.Removing the unit (Only forDDX9903S/DDX9703S/DDX6903S/DDX6703S/DDX9716BTS)❏ Removing the trim plate1 Engage the catch pins on the extractionkey (3) and remove the two locks on thelower part. Lower the frame and pull itforward.322 Remove from the upper two catches.• The frame can be removed from the top side inthe same manner.❏ Removing the unit1 Remove the trim plate. (See the leftcolumn.)2 Insert the two extraction keys (3), thenpull them as illustrated so that the unit canbe removed.3• Be careful to avoid injury from the catch pins onthe extraction key.
