KCT-53U Description (USB adapter: Option)The KCT-53U is cable which connects the RS-232C Cross-cable to a USB port on a computer.When using the KCT-53U, install the supplied CD-ROM(with driver software) in the computer. The KCT-53U driverruns under Windows 2000 or XP.3-4. Programming Software DescriptionThe KPG-109D is the programming software for NXR-700supplied on a CD-ROM. This software runs under Windows2000, XP or Vista on an IBM-PC or compatible machine.The data can be input to or read from NXR-700 and ed-ited on the screen. The programmed or edited data can beprinted out. It is also possible to tune the transceiver.3-5. Firmware Programming Mode4-1. PrefaceThe NXR-700 uses fl ash memory to allow it to be easilyupgraded when new features are released in the future.4-2. Connection ProcedureConnect the NXR-700 to the personal computer (IBM PCor compatible) with the RS-232C Cross-cable. (Connection isthe same as in the PC mode.)Notes:You can only program firmware from the DB-9 COM con-nector on the front panel. Using the 25-pin logic interfaceon the rear panel will not work.4-3. Programming1. Start up the programming software (Fpro. exe).The Fpro. exe exists in the KPG-109D installed holder.2. Set the communications speed (normally, 115200 bps)and communications port in the confi guration item.3. Set the fi rmware to be updated by fi le name item.4. Turn the NXR-700 power on.5. Check the connection between the NXR-700 and the per-sonal computer, and make sure that the NXR-700 is in theprogram mode.6. Press write button in the window. A window opens onthe display to indicate progress of writing.7. If writing ends successfully, the NXR-700 restarts.8. If you want to continue programming other NXR-700s,repeat steps 3 to 6.Notes:It automatically enters the firmware program mode by thewriting request from the programming software (KPG-109D).4-4. FunctionBaud rate is decided automatically with setting of pro-gramming software.Note:Normally, write in the high-speed mode (115200 bps).REALIGNMENT
