Using theantenna in these ways may damage theantenna and degrade your transceiver’sperformance.INSTALLING THE BELT CLIPBelt clip1 Remove the battery pack, asdescribed above.2 To install the belt clip, align theguides of the belt clip with thegrooves on the rear of the batterypack, then slide the belt clip intoplace until the lock lever is secure.Lock lever 3 To remove the belt clip, push thelock lever towards the transceiverwhile sliding the belt clip up.INSTALLING THE COVER OVER THE SPEAKER/MICROPHONE JACKSIf you are not using a speaker/microphone, install the cover over thespeaker/ microphone jacks using thesupplied M3 x 6 mm screw.Note: To keep the transceiver waterresistant, you must cover the speaker/microphone jacks with the suppliedcover.• It takes approximately 3 hours to charge the battery pack.• When the charger will not be used for a long time, unplugthe AC adapter from the AC outlet.Note:◆ When an abnormality occurs during charging, the indicatorperforms as follows:Blinks red: The battery pack is either defective or the batterypack contacts are not properly mated with those of the charger.Alternates flashing green and orange: The battery packhas not satisfied the charging start temperature. Remove thebattery pack from the charger and wait until it reaches a normaltemperature before charging it again.◆ The ambient temperature should be between 5°C and 40°Cwhile charging is in progress. Charging outside this range maynot fully charge the battery.◆ The battery pack life is over when its operating time decreaseseven though it is fully and correctly charged. Replace the batterypack.◆ While operating the transceiver using a Li-ion battery packin areas with an ambient temperature of –10°C and lower,operating time may be shortened.◆ Attention should be drawn to the environmental aspects ofbattery pack disposal.ORIENTATIONAntennaMicrophoneSpeakerBattery PackChannel selectorRotate to change the operating channel.• If your dealer has set the [S-Selector] function,rotate the Channel selector and select the “S”position to begin scanning.LED indicatorRefer to the LED Indicator Status table.Power switch/ Volume controlTurn clockwise to switch the transceiver ON. To switch thetransceiver OFF, turn counterclockwise until a click sounds.Rotate to adjust the volume level.PTT (Push to Talk) switchPress and hold, then speak into the microphone to transmit.Side keyPress to activate its programmable function.Speaker/ microphone jacksInsert the speaker/ microphone or headset plug into thisjack.PROGRAMMABLE AUXILIARY FUNCTIONSYour dealer can program the Side key each with one of thefollowing functions.■ NoneNo function has been programmed.■ AutodialDTMF Autodial allows you to make a private call to anotherparty.■ MonitorMomentarily press this key to deactivate QT or DQTsignaling. Press the key again to return to normal operation.■ Monitor MomentaryPress and hold this key to deactivate QT or DQT signaling.Release the key to return to normal operation.■ ScanPress this key to start scanning the transceiver channels.■ Squelch OffMomentarily press this key to hear background noise. Pressthe key again to return to normal operation.■ Squelch Off MomentaryPress and hold this key to hear background noise.
