51REPLACING F USESIf the fuse blows, determine the cause, then correct theproblem. Avoid using the transceiver under these conditions.ANTENNA CONNECTIONBefore operating, install an efficient, well-tuned antenna.The success of your installation will depend largely onthe type of antenna and its correct installation. Thetransceiver can give excellent results if the antennasystem and its installation are given careful attention.Use a 50 Ω impedance antenna and low-loss coaxial feedline that has a characteristic impedance of 50 Ω, to matchthe transceiver input impedance. Coupling the antennato the transceiver via feed lines having an impedanceother than 50 Ω reduces the efficiency of the antennasystem and can cause interference to nearby broadcasttelevision receivers, radio receivers, and other electronicequipment.◆ Transmitting without first connecting an antenna or othermatched load may damage the transceiver.
