The options and parts selected for this kit were chosen for availabilityof components, ease of build and keeping the overall cost of the unit affordable. The GPS module used is the GlobalSAT EM406A ®. It features a SiRF star III chip set witha high sensitivity built in patch antenna. The EM406A has an extremely fast TTFF andoutputs NMEA 0183 data protocol at 4800 bps.The serial output of the EM406A is TTL 0V~2.85V. The TM‐D710 transceiver requires RS‐232 serial level. The 1st phase of the circuit (R1, R2, R3, R4, R5, T1 & Q1) boosts the GPSTX serial voltage from 2.85V to 5V. The second phase of the circuit (R6, R7, R8, R9, R10,T2, Q2, C1 & D1) shifts the serial level from TTL to RS‐232. (Re.
