You control the TS-2000/2000X/B2000 from the portable Commander (CMD).Voice is transmitted from the CMD unit on the 440MHz band.Control signals are also sent from the CMD unit on the 440MHz band. The HF signal received by the TS-2000/2000X/B2000 is relayed to the CMD unit on the 144MHz band. You can confirm the HF frequency on the LCD of the CMD.The TS-2000/2000X/B2000 is fullyequipped for Kenwood’s SkycommandSystem II Plus. With just a handheldtransceiver you can relax in your gardenwhile DX’ing from your shack. Alter-natively, you could enjoy HF access viathe multibander in your parked car whiletaking in a baseball game.Conventionally two extra transceiversare required for KSS operation — aCommander and a Transporter — but theTS-2000/2000X/B2000 has Transporterfunctions built in. This means you canoperate it remotely with a single mobileor handheld unit, such as the TH-D7A orTM-D700A, transmitting control signals tothe Transporter, which also relays yourvoice to the HF radio. In return, HFsignals are transmitted back to theCommander. This system allows you totransmit and receive HF signals, set fre-quencies (with LCD confirmation), switchmemory channels, and much more — allremotely.Kenwood Skycommand System II PlusKenwood Skycommand System II Plus isthe most sophisticated version yet devel-oped, enabling full-duplex operation withaccess to such HF functions as RIT/XIT,mode switching (USB, FM, etc.), split-frequency operations on/off, and memoryshift. Control is effected via simple TNC,compatible with the AX.25 protocol. Inaddition, if a second TS-2000/2000X/B2000 unit is used as the Commander, you have control over noise reduction, noise blanker on/off and antennaswitching among other functions.Other FeaturesLarge, amber-colored backlit LCD Backlit front keysCompatible with optional DRU-3A digital recording unitKey operation announcement with optional VS-3 voicesynthesizer (option)Programmable function keysTransverter (displays up to 19.99999GHz)RF gain control All-mode squelch Simple visual scanAuto simplex checker Auto repeater offset (144/1200MHz)DTMF remote control Built-in keyerNoise blanker Auto power-offEnhanced Operating EaseAutomatic Antenna TunerThe built-in antenna tuner — which also operates when theradio is in receive mode — covers amateur bands from 1.9to 50MHz, withrapid tuning lockwhen using presets.300 Memory ChannelsThis transceiver provides a bank of 300 memories (plus 1call channel for each band), with 290 assignable by nameand 10 available for programmable scan. The scroll func-tion lets you browse memory contents, memory channelcopy sends the contents of one channel to another, lock-outmemory changes the scan map to exclude certain channels, and memory shift alters the frequency stored in a channel. In addition, there are 10 ‘quick’ memories to capture a cur-rent operation on-the-fly — ideal for contest operation.Multiple Scan FunctionsA full range of scan functions is provided, including MHzscan, memory scan, and call scan. Group scan mode coversall 300 memory channels in groups of 10, and programma-ble band scan will search a frequency spread between twoVFO settings (the scan-hold function stops the scanning for5 seconds). A new feature is programmable slow scan, which will automatically slow down to check a frequencyrange you’re interested in. As well as varying scan speed, you can choose either time-operated (TO) or carrier-operat-ed (CO) busy-stop-resume.Menu SystemAll of the power and functions of the TS-2000/2000X/B2000 can be accessed through the menu-driven displayinterface on the front panel. You may also activate the QuickMenu feature to access only your most commonly-usedfunctions.Commander (CMD)TH-D7A or TM-D700A440MHz/144MHzTS-2000/2000X/B2000with built-in Transporter (TRP)440MHz band440MHz band144MHz bandHF AntennaVoice signalsControl signalsConfirmation ofHF frequencyHF receive audio
