62 Keysight 81618A/9A and Keysight 81620B/3B/4B/6B/8B Optical Heads User’s Guide4 Performance TestsNoise TestThis performance test applies to Keysight 81623B/4B/6B/8B OpticalHeads.1 Insert a Keysight 81618A or a Keysight 81619A Optical Head Interfacemodule into one slot of the Keysight 8163A/B Lightwave Multimeterand connect the device under test, an 8162xA/B Optical Head, to theOptical Head Interface module.2 Make sure the optical input of the Device Under Test (DUT), an8162xA/B Optical Head, is not receiving any light by placing a plasticcap over the input adapter. Move to the DUT Power Meter channel,press [Menu], move to <Zero>, and press Enter.3 Press Appl, move to <Stability>, and press Enter. The Stability SetupScreen appears.4 Ensure that the correct channel is selected in the upcoming ModuleSelection box.5 Press [Menu] to access the Logging application menu screen.6 Moveto t>, press Enter, move to >, and press Enter.7 Moveto< AvgTime>, press Enter, move to <1 s>, and press Enter.8 Moveto< Range mode>, press Enter, move to <Auto>, and press Enter,and press [Close].9 Press the [Parameter] softkey, move to [ TotalTime], press Enter, set thetotal time to 00:05:00, which is 5 minutes, and press Enter.10 Press the [Measure] softkey to start the measurement.11 After the stability application has finished, press the [Analysis] softkey,press the [more] softkey, and note [DP] as the noise value in the testrecord.Return Loss TestThis performance test applies to Keysight 81623B/4B/6B/Optical Heads.1 Make sure that all connectors are clean.2 Connect the equipment as shown in Figure 11.3 Press [Preset] on the mainframeNOTE You must insert a module or a blank panel in the second channel positionof the Keysight 8163A/B Lightwave Multimeter before you perform thenoise measurement.
