Keysight NFA X-Series Getting Started and Troubleshooting Guide 63Instrument Operating SystemDisk Drive Recovery ProcessDisk Drive Recovery ProcessThe Instrument Recovery System can be used to repair errors on theinstrument's C: drive partition or to restore the original factory configuration ofthe system software on the disk drive. The Instrument Recovery System isstored in a separate hidden disk drive partition.Repairing errors on the disk drive may result in loss of data or files. If yourequire more information, see the “chkdsk” documentation in the WindowsHelp and Support Center.Restoring the original factory system software does not restore any of thefollowing items:— Additional software that has been installed after the instrument wasshipped from the factory. (Thus, following an Instrument Recovery anysoftware installed after the instrument was shipped from the factory willneed to be re-installed.)— System configurations (for example user accounts, windows configurations)that have been made after the instrument was shipped from the factory.(Thus, following an Instrument Recovery configuration changes will have tobe performed.)— The Instrument Recovery overwrites the contents of the C: partition. It doesnot affect the D: or E: partitions. It is recommended that the customer use a regular back up strategy. Thecustomer’s IT department may already have a backup strategy in place whichis suitable for the instrument and its data. Using the Instrument RecoverySystem in conjunction with a regular back up strategy should allow thecustomer to fully recover the instrument's software and data.Table 3-4 Recovery ProcessStep Notes1.
