68Instrument Operating SystemDisk Drive Partitioning and UseDisk Drive Partitioning and UseThe drive is partitioned into 3 sections: C:, D: and E:— The C: partition contains the Windows 7 operating system and softwareinstalled by Keysight. This is an Open System which means you can installadditional software, and these should be installed on the C: drive. However, only a limited set of software applications are tested for use with theKeysight measurement software. The installation and/or use of othersoftware is not warranted and could interfere with the operation of themeasurement software. If instrument repair is ever needed, the Keysightversion of the C: drive is the only part of the instrument software that isrestored by the Instrument Recovery process. You must reload any othersoftware that you have added in the instrument.— The D: partition is reserved for data storage. The User Accounts that areconfigured by Keysight have their My Documents folder mapped to the D:drive. This is for the convenience of backing-up the measurement data. Youshould always back-up the data on the D: drive to an external device. Thisallows you to restore the data if you ever need to replace the disk drive.— The E: partition is reserved for Keysight’s use. The primary use of the E:drive is for housing the Calibration and Alignment data. Do not change oroverwrite the files on this drive. This could cause your instrument to notmeet specifications, or even to stop functioning correctly. Do not use thisdrive for data storage. It is also recommended that you back up thecontents of this drive by using the factory calibration data backup utility.Backing-up the factory calibration dataTo back-up the factory calibration data you will need a USB mouse andstorage device and follow the step below.Step Notes1 Insert the mouse in one of theinstrument USB ports2 Insert the USB memory device in oneof the instrument USB ports.
