1 Calibration Procedures16 U1450 Series/U1461A Service GuideCalibration OverviewThis manual contains procedures to verify the U1450 Series insulation testers/U1461A insulation multimeter performance and to perform adjustments(calibration). The performance test procedures allow you to verify that theinstrument is operating within its published specifications. The adjustmentprocedures ensure that the instrument remains within its specifications until thenext calibration.Closed-case calibrationThe instrument features closed-case electronic calibration. In other words, nointernal mechanical adjustments are required. The instrument calculatescorrection factors based upon the input reference value you set. The newcorrection factors are stored in the nonvolatile memory until the next calibrationadjustment is performed. The nonvolatile EEPROM calibration memory is retainedeven when the power is switched off.Keysight calibration servicesWhen your instrument is due for calibration, contact your local Keysight ServiceCenter to enquire about recalibration services.Calibration intervalA 1-year interval is adequate for most applications. Accuracy specifications arewarranted only if adjustment is made at regular calibration intervals. Accuracyspecifications are not warranted beyond the 1-year calibration interval. Keysightdoes not recommend extending calibration intervals beyond 2 years for anyapplication.NOTE Ensure that you have read the “Test Considerations” on page 20 beforecalibrating the instrument.
