Calibration Procedures 1U1450 Series/U1461A Service Guide 35Using the Front Panel for AdjustmentsThis section describes the procedures to perform adjustments from the frontpanel.To unsecure the instrument, see “To unsecure the instrument from the front panel”on page 32. Once unsecured, the reference value will be indicated on the display.Adjustment considerations1 Use the Fluke 5520A/5522A calibrator (or equivalent) for the adjustmentprocedure.2 Allow the instrument to warm up and stabilize for 1 hour before performing theadjustments.3 Ensure that during the adjustments, the low battery indicator does not appear.If the low battery indicator appears, replace the batteries as soon as possibleto avoid false readings.4 Consider the thermal effects as you are connecting the test leads to thecalibrator and tester. It is recommended to wait for 1 minute before you beginthe calibration after connecting the test leads.5 Before proceeding with the ambient temperature adjustment, be sure to turnon the tester for at least 1 hour with the K-type thermocouple connected.6 When the word “SHORT” is used, connect the specified terminals with copperwires on banana plugs as short as possible.7 When the word “OPEN” is used, remove all test leads from the instrument’sterminals.NOTE After each adjustment, the display shows PASS. If the calibration fails, theinstrument sounds a beep, and an error number is shown on the display. Calibrationerror messages are described in “Calibration Error Codes” on page 50.
