Ensure the area surrounding the heater is freeand clear from combustible materials, gaso-line, and other flammable vapors and liquids.2. Inspect the gas hose. Replace the gas hoseimmediately if nicks or cuts are found.3. For heaters with a push button igniter, makesure the wire from the igniter to the electrodeis in good condition, without any nicks or cuts.Replace the electrode (comes with wire) ifdefects are found.4. Check for gas leaks using approved leakdetectors.5. Review all heater markings (i.e. warnings,start-up, shut-down, etc.) at the time of mainte-nance for legibility. Make sure none are cut,torn, or otherwise damaged. Any damagedmarkings must be replaced immediately bycontacting the L.B. White Co., Inc. Dataplates,start-up and shut-down instructions and warn-ings are available at no cost.6. Ensure the proper regulator is matched tothe heater being used. Regulators are set todifferent pressures, depending on the designrequirements of the heater. Mis-matching ofthe regualtor to the improper heater can resultin over or under firing of the heater, resultingin soot, high levels of carbon monoxide, ordamage to the heater and surrounding area. Ifin doubt, contact L.B. White Co.7. Inspect the regulator to make sure the regula-tor vent is not blocked. Debris, insects, insectnests, tar, snow, or ice on a regulator canblock vents and cause excess pressure at theheater.ANNUALLY:1. Regulators can wear out and function improp-erly. Have your gas supplier check the datecodes on all regulators installed and checkdelivery pressures to the appliance to make surethat the regulator is reliable.
