The charts are intended foruse by a QUALIFIED GAS HEATER SERVICEPERSON. DO NOT SERVICE THESEHEATERS UNLESS YOU HAVE BEENPROPERLY TRAINED.TEST EQUIPMENT REQUIREDThe following pieces of test equipment will berequired to troubleshoot this system with minimaltime and effort.• Digital Multimeter - for measuring AC andDC voltage and resistance.• Thermocouple Diagnostic Kit - (PartNo. 550-08506) When used with a standarddigital multimeter, this kit allows testing of thethermocouple and electromagnetic power unitstrength of the pilot safety gas control valves.• Low Pressure Gauge - (Part No. 500-00764) for checking inlet and outlet pressuresof the gas control valve against dataplate rating.INITIAL PREPARATION■ Visually inspect equipment for apparentdamage.■ Check all wiring for loose connections andworn insulation. To effectively use the flow charts, you must first identifythe problem . The problems are numbered sequentially, along with a brief explanation of each problem. Startat the “diamond” closest to the identified problem andproceed with each step, performing whatever tests aresuggested. After each step or test, the guide will directthe service person to the next logical step based on theoutcome of the previous check.Problem Page1 Pilot will not light...........................................272 Pilot will not stay lit when pilot controlbutton is released .........................................283 Motor runs.Burner does not light with pilot light lit ..........294 Motor does not run, heater does not lightwith pilot light lit ............................................305 Pilot will not stay lit when main burner andblower are operating ....................................306 High limit switch is open ...............................317 Burner does not shut off ...............................328 Flame lifting off of burner .............................329 Burner flame drops out after 10-15 minutesof operation ..................................................3210 Gas control valve chatters............................3311 Motor hums ..................................................33WARNINGElectrical Shock and Burn Hazard■ Troubleshooting this system may requireoperating the unit with line voltage present andgas on.
