1. Have your gas supplier check all gas piping annuallyfor leaks or restrictions in gas lines. Also, at this timehave your gas supplier clean out the sediment trap onthe zone control panel of any debris that may haveaccumulated.2. The heater’s surrounding area shall be kept clearand free from combustible materials, gasoline, andother flammable vapors and liquids.3. Regulators can wear out and function improperly.Have your gas supplier check the date codes on allregulators installed and check delivery pressures tothe appliance to make sure that the regulator issuitable for continued use.4. Regulators must be periodically inspected to makesure the regulator vents are not blocked. Debris, insects, insect nests, snow, or ice on a regulator canblock vents and cause excess pressure at theappliance.5. For safety as well as for optimum performance at theheater, it is necessary to keep the outside of theheater free of dust, dirt or any combustible material. If any operational component shows signs of rust orcorrosion, replace the component immediately.6. If any warning or instruction labels, dataplates, etc.become lost or hard to read, replace themimmediately. Do not operate the heater until youhave all instructions and can read and understandthem.7. Check overall condition of heater for cracked ordamaged components, loose screws or bolts, nickedor cut electrical leads, etc. Replace any suspectcomponents.8. Check all hose and tubing assemblies for cracks, abrasions or ruptures. Replace any hoses that aresuspect.9. Ensure relfector supports and hangers are secure, reflectors do not sag, and are properly located.10. Check all gasketing on burner box and fan housingdischarge. Ensure all is in good condition. Replaceany gasket material if suspect.11. At least once a year, check the air inlet assembly.Ensure the air inlet assembly and its duct are free ofblockages.Maintenance InstructionsService Instructions1. Close the fuel supply valve to the heater anddisconnect the heater’s electrical supply beforeservicing unless it is necessary to have the valveopen and electrical supply connected for your serviceprocedure.2. Open the burner box for access to controlcomponents. Close and latch after servicing.3. For reassembly, reverse the respective serviceprocedure. Ensure gas connections are tightenedsecurely.4. Clean the heater’s burner orifice and pressure switchorifices with compressed air or a soft, dry rag. Do notuse files, drills, broaches, etc. to clean the orificehole. Doing so will enlarge the hole, causing ignitionor combustion problems. Replace the orifice if itcannot be cleaned properly.5. Disconnect appropriate component electrical leadswhen servicing.5. After servicing, light the heater to ensure properoperation and check for gas leaks.WARNINGFire and Explosion Hazard■ Do not disassemble or attempt to repair any heatercomponents or gas train components.■ All component parts must be replaced if defects arefound.■ Failure to follow this warning will result in fire orexplosions, causing property damage, injury, or death.WARNINGBurn Hazard■ Heater surfaces are hot for a period of time after theheater has been shut down.■ Allow the heater to cool before performing service, maintenance, or cleaning.■ Failure to follow this warning will result in burnscausing injury.GENERAL17
