LaCie SAFE Hard DriveUser Manual page Helpful InformationConnect the drive to the computer via the USB2.0 port and swipe a registered finger over thesensor to access the data storage area of the La-Cie SAFE drive.Once you have access to the drive, go to theMenu Bar, and open Go.From the Go menu, click on Applications.In the Applications menu, open the Utilitiesfolder, and then double-click Disk Utility fromthe Utilities folder.The Disk Utility window will open. In the leftside of the window will be a list of the availablehard disk drives. You should see a volume thatrepresents your internal hard drive, and one la-beled LaCie SAFE drive.From the Volume Scheme: button, choose thenumber of partitions you want to divide thedrive into by clicking on the pull down menustarting with Current (Mac OS 10.x gives youthe option of dividing the drive into at most 8partitions). You can customize the size of thepartitions by using the slide bar between thepartitions in the Volume Scheme: area.In the Volume Information section, create aname for each partition, choose the volume for-mat (Mac OS Extended, Mac OS Standard orUNIX File System) and the volume size.Once you have finalized the volume format,number of partitions, size and options, clickOK. The following message will appear: Warn-ing! Saving the new volume will erase all ex-isting volumes. This can NOT be undone. Areyou sure you want to do that?
