SMART Spectro 2 Operator’s Manual 04.16 23GENERAL OPERATING PROCEDURESThe operation of the SMART Spectro 2 is controlled by a microprocessor. Themicroprocessor is programmed with menu driven software. A menu is a list of choices.This allows a selection of various tasks for the spectrophotometer to perform, such as,scan blank, scan sample, and edit test sequences. The keypad is used to make menuselections which are viewed in the display. There are four selections accessible from theMAIN MENU - PROGRAMMED TESTS, %T/ABS, PC LINK and SYSTEM SETUP. THE KEYPADThe keypad has 6 buttons which are used to perform specific tasks.ON This button is used to turn the spectrophotometer on and begininitialization.This button will cause the display to scroll up in a list of menu choices. It willmove to the beginning of a list viewed in the display. It will auto scroll whenheld down.This button will cause the display to scroll down through a list of menuchoices. It will move to the end of a list viewed in the display. It will auto scrollwhen held down.*ENTERThis button is used to select the menu choice indicated by the white bar on amenu viewed in the display.EXIT This button is an EXIT or ESCAPE button. When pressed, the display will EXITfrom the current menu and go to the previous menu. Pressing EXIT duringthe initialization will skip the 15 minute warm up.OFF This button turns the spectrophotometer off. SAMPLE HOLDERSThe SMART Spectro 2 is supplied with two removable sample cell holders. Each holderis secured in the chamber with a single screw. The square sample holder should bepositioned so the arrow on the top is pointing toward the left. The square sample holderwill hold 10 mm square cuvettes. The universal sample holder should be positioned withthe V-channel toward the right side of the chamber. The universal sample holder will holdround tubes of varying diameters. When using the universal adapter, the tube should beplaced between the white roller on the spring-loaded arm and the v-channel on the right-hand side of the adapter.
