With careful inspection and routinemaintenance, you can avoid costly down time and repair.Check all bolts after using unit for several hours to besure they are tight. Replace any worn, damaged, orillegible safety labels by obtaining new labels from yourLand Pride Dealer.The parts on your All Purpose Seeder have beenspecially designed and should only be replaced withgenuine Land Pride parts. Do not alter the seeder in away which will adversely affects its performance.! WARNINGAlways secure seeder in the up position with solid supportsbefore servicing the underside. Never work under equipmentsupported by hydraulics. Hydraulics can drop equipment ifcontrols are actuated or if hydraulic lines burst. Eithersituation can drop the seeder instantly even when power to thehydraulics is shut off.Roller ChainsRefer to Figure 5-1:Your drive system uses standard no. 40 roller chain andis designed for low maintenance.1. Check drive idler (#1) and driven idler (#2) to ensurethey are taking up excess chain slack.2. Check drive chain (#3) and driven chain (#4) toensure they are not over-tightened.3. Check chain tension of roller chains driving the smallseeds box cups.4. Clean and lubricate all roller chains with chainlubricant as needed.Roller ChainsFigure 5-1308481234Cleaning and StoringIt is good practice to clean off any dirt or grease that mayhave accumulated on the seeder and moving parts at theend of each working season or when your seeder will notbe used for several days.1. Be sure that the seed box is completely cleanedbefore storing. It is best to do this while still hooked tothe tractor.a. Scoop out any large quantities of seed left in thebox. Finish by using a small broom or vacuumsweeper.Refer to Figure 5-2:b. Move seed rate adjustment lever(s) all the way tothe right to fully open fluted seed cups.c. Lower four position door handles to the lowestposition at each main box seed cup.d. Run seeder over the ground to power the flutedseed cups to remove out-of-reach seeds.e. Make a final sweep or vacuum of the fluted seedcups to finish the cleaning job.Clean-out LeversFigure 5-22. Clean off all dirt and grease. Make sure rollers areclean of all dirt, trash, and debris.3. Oil the square bore of the seed cup drive sprockethub to prevent seizing as noted under LubricationPoints on page 31.4. Lubricate all grease fittings and roller chains asnoted under Lubrication Points starting on page 31.5. When in storage, lower the seeder with rollers on aboard or hard surface.6. Repaint parts where paint is worn or scratched toprevent rust.7. Replace all damaged or missing decals.8. Store seeder inside if possible. Inside storage willreduce maintenance and make for a longer seederlife.9. Inspect seeder for loose, damaged, or worn partsand adjust or replace if needed with genuine LandPride parts.
