137/25/13 RTR10 & RTR15 Series Rotary Tillers 311-431MLand PrideSection 1: Assembly & Set-UpTable of ContentsDriveline InstallationRefer to Figure 1-6, Figure 1-7 and Figure 1-8:The tiller driveline is coupled to the tractor and implementshafts with either push pin couplers, pull collar couplers,or a combination of both and with either a shear bolt orslip clutch on one end for protection from shock loads.Always engage the PTO at low engine rpm to minimizestart-up torque on the driveline. Drivelines with frictionclutches must go through a “run-in” operation priorto initial use and after long periods of inactivity. See“Section 4: Maintenance & Lubrication” on page 23 fora detailed description of maintaining the driveline. If the Rotary Tiller is to be used on more than one tractor,an additional driveline may be required - especially if aquick hitch is used.! DANGERDo not engage tractor PTO while hooking-up and unhookingdriveline or while someone is standing near the driveline. Aperson’s body and/or clothing can become entangled in thedriveline resulting in serious injury or death.! WARNINGDo not use a PTO adaptor with a quick hitch. A PTO adapterwill increase strain on the tractor’s PTO shaft resulting inpossible damage to shaft and driveline.! DANGERAll guards and shields must be installed and in good workingcondition at all times during tiller operation!! WARNINGAlways disengage PTO, engage parking brake, shut tractorengine off, remove switch key, and wait for tines to come to acomplete stop before dismounting from tractor.! WARNINGDo not over speed PTO or machine breakage may result. Sometractors are equipped with multispeed PTO ranges. Be certainyour tractor’s PTO is set for 540 rpm.IMPORTANT: The driveline must be lubricatedbefore putting it into service. Refer to “Lubrication”on page 26 for detailed instructions.IMPORTANT: Drivelines with friction clutches mustgo through a “run-in” operation prior to initial useand after long periods of inactivity.See “DrivelineProtection” on page 23 for detailed instructions.IMPORTANT: If tiller is to be used on more than onetractor, an additional driveline may be required -especially if a quick hitch is used.Figure 1-6Figure 1-7Figure 1-8Implement EndTractor EndPush Pin CouplingPush Pin CouplingWithShear Bolt Protection22232Implement EndTractor EndPull Collar CouplingPush Pin CouplingWithShear Bolt Protection22233Implement EndTractor EndPush PinCouplingPull Collar CouplingWithSlip Clutch Protection22234
