Therefore, it isabsolutely essential that no one operates the RotaryTiller without first having read, fully understood, andbecome totally familiar with the Operator’s Manual. Makesure the operator has paid particular attention to:• Important Safety Information, pages 1 to 8• Section 1: Assembly & Set-Up, page 10• Section 2: Operating, page 16• Section 3: Adjustments, page 20• Section 4: Maintenance & Lubrication, page 23InspectionsMake the following inspections with tiller attached to atractor, PTO disengaged, and completely stopped.Safety Information! DANGERDo not engage tractor PTO while hooking-up and unhookingdriveline or while someone is standing near the driveline. Aperson’s body and/or clothing can become entangled in thedriveline resulting in serious injury or death.Operating Checklist✔ Check Page No.Inspect tractor safety equipment to make sure it is ingood working condition. See TractorManualCheck all guards and shields to make certain they are in goodworking condition, in place, and secured.Carefully raise and lower implement to ensure drawbar, tires, andother tractor parts do not contact tiller frame or PTO driveline.Check driveline to be sure it is securely connected totractor PTO shaft and tiller gearbox shaft.Refer to “Driveline Installation”.Page 13Check drive chain tension.Refer to “Drive Chain Tension”. Page 21Check tiller depth setting.Refer to “Skid Shoe Adjustment”.Page 22Check driveline slip clutch to make sure disks will slip.Refer to “Driveline Protection” Page 23Check for worn, bent, broken, loose, and/or missingtines. Replace tines as needed.Refer to “Tine Replacement”Page 23Grease driveline shaft and all other grease fittingsRefer to “Important Safety Information”. Page 1Check oil level in gearbox. Make sure all plugshave been replaced when completed.Refer to “Gearbox Lubrication”.Page 27Check oil level in chaincase. Make sure all plugs havebeen replaced when completed.Refer to “Chaincase Lubrication”.Page 27Check tiller initially and periodically for loose bolts andpins. Refer to “Torque Values Chart” for torque values. Page 33! DANGERKeep yourself and all others away from rotating tines anddrive train. Always disengage PTO and lockout power sourcebefore making adjustments or servicing the tiller. A person’sbody, hair, or clothing can become entangled in rotatingcomponents causing serious bodily injury or death.! DANGERKeep away from rotating hex drive shaft on the right side of thegearbox and gearbox input shaft. A person can becomeentangled in the shafts causing serious bodily injury or death.! DANGERMake all 3-point hydraulic adjustments from the tractor seat.Never make hydraulic adjustments while standing alongsidethe tractor or behind the tractor.! DANGERPTO shaft shield, gearbox shields, driveline shields, anddriveline safety chains must be installed and in good workingcondition while operating tiller to avoid injury or death fromentanglement in a rotating drivelines.! DANGERDo not operate a broken or bent driveline. Such drivelines canbreak apart while rotating at high speeds causing seriousinjury or death. Always remove Rotary Tiller from serviceuntil damaged drivelines are repaired or replaced.! DANGERClear area of debris before tilling. Mark any potential hazardsthat cannot be removed such as tree stumps, post, rocks, holes,and drop-offs with a visible flag.! DANGERKeep front rubber dirt deflector on the RTR Series in placewhile operating the tiller. Objects can be thrown forwardtoward the operator causing serious bodily injury or death.! DANGERDo not point outlet toward people, animals, or buildings andkeep people and animals away from outlet during operation.Tine impact on objects can cause projectiles resulting inbodily injury or death.! DANGERDo not till across steep inclines exceeding 15 degrees. Theaction of the tines being forced down into the ground cancause the tractor to roll-over resulting in serious injury ordeath. Consult your tractor’s manual for acceptable inclinesthe tractor is capable of traveling across.Section 2: Operating
